DAY 1: LIMA / CUSCO
Upon arrival at Cusco airport you will be met and driven to Hotel, where you are advised to rest for a while to acclimatize to the altitude. Around 1:45pm Cusco city tour. This tour includes the major sites of historical interest in Cuzco, such as the famous Inca fort at Sacsahuaman, and the temple of the Sun. Also included in this is a tourist card, giving you access to all the sites in the Cuzco area as a whole (i.e., including outside of the City itself). This tour finishes at 18:00, overnight at the hotel.
DAY 2: MACHU PICCHU
All day excursion by train to Machu Picchu. At 5:30 am you will leave the hotel to the station to take the 6:00 am train. Travel is in «Vistadome» Class (formerly «Autowagon»). At 9:40 a.m., you will arrive at the Aguas Calientes Station, from where you take a 25 minute bus ride to the ruins of Machu Picchu. Once there, you will have a guided tour, with an English speaking professional guide. The ruins are on the eastern slope of Machu Picchu in two separate areas: the agricultural and the urban. Lunch at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge (included). Return to Cuzco on the afternoon train and transfer to Hotel. (B, L)
DAY 3: PISAC
* (Must be Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sundays) Breakfast . You will be picked up at 8:45 am. Full day excursion to the Urubamba Valley visiting: the village of Pisac, a picturesque town of creole and colonial aspect and its lndian market and craftfair. Lunch provided. In the afternoon you’ll visit to the fortress of Ollantaytambo, an architectural group that in the days of the Tahuantinsuyo empire was a gigantic agricultural, administrative, social, religious and military complex, then the Chincero market. At the end, return to Cusco at 6:30pm .
DAY 4: CUZCO / LIMA
Transfer from your hotel to the airport for the return flight to Lima
INKA TRAIL HIKE UP TO MACHU PICCHU (4 DAYS / 3 NIGHTS)
DAY 1: CHILLCA / LLACTAPATA
We start our trek escorted by native «Quechua» porters, going through semi-arid terrain along the Urubamba River, with magnificent views of snow-capped Mount Veronica (20,200 f.). We make our first camp at Llactapata, an ancient Inca citadel that protected the entry to two valleys. (L+D)
DAY 2 : LLACTAPATA / LLULLUCHA
After a healthy breakfast, we walk past the Inca Hamlet of Huayabamba, later going through an Andean cloud forest to our camp at Llulluchapampa (11.000 f.). (B+L+D).
DAY 3 : LLULLUCHA / PHUYUPATAMARCA
Today, the first part of the trek takes us to the Warmiwañuska Pass at 13,500 feet. Walking on a remarkably preserved Inca trail, we pass ancient archaeological sites covered by dense jungle overgrowth. We make our camp at Phuyupatamarca (City Above the Clouds), with a spectacular view of snow- overed Andean ranges. (B+L+D).
DAY 4: PHUYUPATAMARCA / MACHU PICCHU
Passing through the Inti Punku, (Gate of the Sun), we arrive to Machu Picchu, the «Lost City.
